Job Title: Grocery Sales Merchandiser
Locations: Los Angeles County
Reports to: General Manager, SW Region

Summary

This position will work very closely with the wholesale team, production group and the office/customer support team in an ever-expanding retail environment to ensure that our grocery customers are receiving the same level of customer service that all of our partners have become accustomed to. The ideal candidate will create positive and lasting relationships with our vendors, catering to the needs of storeowners and managers at each store to fulfill specific requests. The position will require multi-tasking, confidence in selling to a variety of retailers and ensuring that quality inventory and freshness standards are being maintained at each store.

Essential Functions

  • Write orders and make deliveries to grocery accounts within a specific territory. Manage accounts on an ongoing basis to anticipate needs and potential issues
  • Merchandise and face bags on the shelves of each location ensuring that bags remain presentable after making it to each account. Rotate coffee inventory at all grocery accounts in territory to minimize expired product and store credits
  • Increase distribution of both coffee and cold brew within all current accounts and seek out new opportunities within the market
  • Assist in the introduction of new skus and products to partners in conjunction with sales team. Work in conjunction with distributor manager to support product launch and order fulfillment
  • Manage and support grocery coffee programs, help setup and perform in-store samplings among all grocery accounts, including drip coffee and cold brew tastings with the public
  • Manage coffee inventories and merchandise
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with internal teams including Production, Sales and Customer Support
  • Serve as point person for in-store support and needs. Maintain relationships with store managers, buyers, relevant support staff
  • Coordinate volume/trend/credits by store and by route by utilizing reporting provided via NetSuite on a monthly or quarterly basis

Other Responsibilities

  • Keep fleet stocked with all grocery collateral, ie, racks, ice bins, shelf talkers, description cards
  • Assist in developing routes to coincide with already heavy-traffic issues ensuring efficiencies
  • Work closely with the production team in order to ensure orders are filled accurately and on-time
  • Cup and taste coffee regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards. Stay informed of new coffee availability and information

Summary

This full-time, paid position will involve working closely with the Roasting, Green Coffee, Customer Service and Production staff on a daily basis, in support of Wholesale and Retail roasting needs.

Essential Functions

  • Help fulfill daily coffee orders / “scooping batches”
  • Perform routine roaster cleaning and maintenance
  • Assist with green coffee:
    • Inventory and floor counts
    • Receiving, organizing and moving product
    • Weighing and portioning for recipe
  • Server as a general go-between among roasting, customer service and other departments
  • General roastery organization; cleaning, stocking and other misc. tasks
  • Learn and develop a deep understanding of the techniques and approaches that define our roast philosophy.
  • Learn and develop a deep understanding of our coffees
    • Development across multiple varieties
    • Roast profiles for every coffee and blend
    • Time, temperature and caramelization for all coffees
    • Attend daily cuppings and espresso evaluations for quality control
    • Engage in all green and roasted coffee education and new training curriculum
    • Relative tasting of coffee over various brewing methods

This position will support Wholesale and Retail roasting needs by working closely with Roasting, Green Coffee, Customer Service and Production staff on a daily basis. This is a full-time position, working five days per week. Required workdays will fall on the weekend with consecutive days off.

Job Title: Shipping Lead

Summary

This full-time, position is an intricate part of the operations team and will be responsible for fulfilling all duties related to Wholesale Shipping. Will work closely with the wholesale team, production crew and office to ensure orders are being fulfilled in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards. Responsible for ensuring all orders are shipped out accurately and on time.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for making sure each package gets properly labeled and out the door on time
  • Accountable for follow through on all packages after they leave the roaster, ensuring accurate and timely delivery
  • Contact customers by phone or email in the event that packages arrive incomplete, damaged, or incorrect
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with FedEx drivers. Assisting FedEx drivers when packages are picked up each night
  • Keep open communication with all members of Stumptown’s wholesale team (call center, account managers, production managers, and sales department), both verbally and via email
  • Order and maintain inventory for shipping supplies (boxes, tape, labels, etc.)
  • Keep a clean and organized work space each day in the shipping area
  • Assess shipping tasks for each day and completing them in order of importance; multi-tasking and adjusting on short notice
  • Maintain an even demeanor while dealing with shipping deadlines and any emergencies that arise
  • Show care and patience when packing boxes, ensuring that bags don’t break in transit
  • Open to a flexible schedule during holidays

Qualifications

  • At least one year experience working in a shipping department or environment
