While Stumptown offers an array of Cold Brews in stubbies and cans, we like to remind folks you can easily brew your own delicious cold brew at home. This year, our coffee team chose something special for you to brew at home as Sunrider: a lovely lot from our longtime producer partners at the Coopeatenas cooperative in Costa Rica. As coffee or cold brew, it really shines.
Coopeatenas was founded in 1969 in the West Valley region, whose idyllic climate and lush hillsides have produced quintessentially Costa Rican coffees for five generations – since the mid 1800s by many accounts. Today, the cooperative encompasses over 1,300 members across the Puriscal, Turrubares, and Atenas municipalities of the West Valley. These members receive agricultural extension services, and enjoy access to the supermarket, gas station, mechanic, and agricultural supply warehouse provided for members and their communities – and making Coopeatenas one of the largest employers in the region.
